Air pressure
The majority of damage to tyres is caused by incorrect air pressure.
Did you know that most damage to tyres is caused by incorrect air pressure? Incorrect tyre pressure increases wear and has a negative effect on vehicle handling. You can avoid unnecessary damage by checking the air pressure in your tyres on a regular basis (around every two weeks). And don't forget about your spare tyre!
You can find the air pressure prescribed by your vehicle manufacturer in the owner's handbook for your car. In many vehicles, it can also be found under the fuel flap or on the door pillar.
You should always do the following when checking the tyre pressure:
• Take an air pressure reading from cold tyres.
• Do not adjust the air pressure if the tyres are warm.
• The air pressure can differ between the front and rear axles, but must be the same on each axle.
• Close valve caps tightly. They protect the valve from dust and dirt and prevent it from leaking.
• Replace missing valve caps immediately.
