Fixtures list for the Uniroyal Funcup 2006 season:

More fun and more races

Hanover, February 2006. The Uniroyal Funcup is about to enter its second season in Germany. It now features an additional race, making a total of seven events on the calendar. This year 16- to 18-year olds will also be allowed to race for the first time in a class of their own.

Car races are no longer the exclusive preserve of the professionals. At the Uniroyal Funcup, all competitors have the chance to vie for the best times on cordoned-off tracks. Initiated by tyre manufacturer Uniroyal, the Funcup gives motor sports fans the opportunity to take part in endurance races on professional European racetracks. And, if everything goes according to plan, participants don't even have to be of age - teenagers sixteen and over will be allowed to enter in the planned Junior Class. Experienced professionals will train the Funcup drivers before the event and supervise them during the competition.

The races, lasting four, six and twenty-five hours, will be held on professional European tracks. At least 20 teams consisting of 2 to 8 drivers per car will line up at the start of each race. This concept makes the Funcup one of the most inexpensive options for participating in motor sports on race circuits, with individual drivers able to get involved at a starting cost of just 1,500 euros.

Registration is still possible at www.funmotorsports.de. Skilful players may even strike lucky and win a free place as a driver by logging on at www.uniroyal-funcup.de. The Funcup has proved to be a successful event and not just for the Uniroyal tyre brand. Team bonding, fun out on the track, plus a tangible racing driver atmosphere in a relaxed, familiar environment will continue to be good reasons for many different companies to use the Uniroyal Funcup as an event or incentive. Here staff can be motivated and bond together to form a close team, whilst for suppliers and customers the Funcup serves as a reward for successful co-operation and loyalty. They do not necessarily have to come from the automotive sector to get involved.

The Uniroyal Funcup is a brand trophy, with races held in Germany, Belgium, France, Italy, the UK and Spain. In Germany, the racing cars - weighing 760 kg with 130 hp engine power - can be driven by anyone with a driver's licence and a day permit as a minimum requirement. A specially designed tubular frame chassis under the VW Beetle-lookalike plastic body features low-cost mass-produced parts (engine, gearboxes, suspension). A complete new vehicle costs a good 31,000 euros. Anyone interested should visit www.funmotorsports.de.
