Drift driver Ritzmann comes second in the International Drift Series

Hanover, 20th July 2010. Right from the word go Patrick Ritzmann, driving for Uniroyal at the International Drift Series (IDS), took second place overall at the spectacular drifting race on the Nürburgring. The 23 year old had to concede defeat only to the 2008 champion, Dutch driver Remmo Nietzen, in these races where the cars have to drift through the bends - in other words, with them standing crosswise as far as possible. For the races Ritzmann fits standard RainSport 2 tyres to his Uniroyal-red BMW.

Last weekend in glorious weather Patrick Ritzmann (23) from Steinheim near Stuttgart achieved second place in the International Drift Series (IDS). He initially came first in the qualifying race, before engaging in exciting drifting battles with one of the leaders in the field Michael Sahli (Driftteam Switzerland) and, in the final, with Remmo Nietzen (Netherlands).

Patrick Ritzmann is the youngest German driver in the IDS, entering the races last year on a wild card. Ritzmann opted for RainSport 2 tyres, size 235/40 ZR 18, when fitting out his BMW e46, which has 450 hp and can reach up to 300 km/h (187 mph), with the biturbo engine putting 550 Nm of torque on the crankshaft. "The tyre provides excellent grip and is totally predictable even when driving at the limit" he said. "That means I can be out there with the leaders in the races, without having to worry about handling or any acceleration issues."
