Rain Max - the rain tyre for special requirements23.05.2008

The Rain Max fully lives up to its name, because like all products from the rain tyre brand, it has also been optimised to achieve best driving performance on wet roads. As a result, in addition to aquaplaning safety, it also offers extremely short braking distances in the wet. This safety bonus is achieved through the tyre's special tread pattern geometry with its carefully designed tread grooves and offset edges. The developers also selected a specific wet-grip compound for this tyre. Although the Rain Max is able to pick up and disperse exceptionally large amounts of water through its grooves, it also features a compact outer shoulder, which gives it excellent handling characteristics. And in terms of comfort, this tyre matches any comparable model in all respects. Offset lateral gripping edges ensure low rolling noise. The flat contour and large volume of rubber make the Uniroyal Rain Max an economical tyre. The contour ensures even ground pressure distribution and counteracts partial wear. This in turn substantially increases the mileage potential of this dedicated wet weather tyre. The tyre was developed for speeds of up to 210 km/h (131 mph), depending on the size. In all there are 23 sizes available for 13", 14", 15" and 16" rims, ranging from 165/70 R 13 C 6 PR with Load Index 88/86 to 225/75 R 16 C with Load Index 121/120 and 10 PR load rating. The Belgian rubber goods manufacturer Englebert produced tyres from 1895 and the company's customers included Continental AG. When the firm merged with US Rubber in 1958, it was then known as Uniroyal Englebert. Uniroyal, the inventor of the rain tyre, has been a European brand within the portfolio of Continental AG in Hanover, Germany since 1979. With targeted annual sales of more than i26.4 billion in 2008, the Continental Corporation is one of the world's leading automotive suppliers. As a supplier of tyres, brake systems, systems and components for the power train and chassis, instrumentation, infotainment solutions, vehicle electronics and technical elastomers, the corporation contributes towards enhanced driving safety and protection of the global climate. Continental is also a competent partner in networked automobile communication. Today, the corporation employs approximately 150,000 people at nearly 200 locations in 36 countries. The tyre divisions are an Official Sponsor of UEFA EURO 2008TM, which will be held in Austria and Switzerland in June 2008.
