SNOW MAX - the versatile, dedicated winter tyre also suited to commercial use23.05.2008
Hanover/ Essen, May 2008. In central Europe winter and wet weather are inextricable. Uniroyal's SNOW MAX copes extremely well with both, complemented by the tyre's very good handling characteristics. Anyone looking for a powerful winter tyre offering excellent wet weather performance on MPVs and light vans is very well-served with this winter tyre from the rain tyre brand Uniroyal. The SNOW MAX is as versatile as the winter weather is changeable. Aquaplaning safety and braking performance in snow and ice are combined at a very high level; the tyre also provides excellent traction in wintry weather conditions such as slush and snow. A special system of 'stepped sipes' creates extremely high numbers of powerful gripping edges, so the tread pattern interlocks firmly with snow and ice - thereby achieving short braking distances on the roads in winter. Traction is furthermore enhanced by patented, wedge-shaped tread grooves and channels, as well as angled tread lugs in an optimised arrangement based on sophisticated computer simulations. As a result, this sturdy winter tyre for MPVs and light vans ensures safe starting off and acceleration at all times, even on slippery road surfaces. Despite its wet weather-optimised tread pattern, the SNOW MAX has compact shoulder lugs which, in conjunction with the wide, flat tread, also give it very good handling and safe cornering characteristics. The German motoring magazine 'pro mobil' (issue 11/2005) tested the performance of the SNOW MAX, size 225/70 R 15 C. The experts rated it as 'excellent' and voted it the test winner. The SNOW MAX was developed for speeds of up to 190 km/h (118 mph), depending on the size. There are 21 sizes available for 14", 15" and 16" rims right up to 215/75 R 16 C (with Load Index 113/111) The Belgian rubber goods manufacturer Englebert produced tyres from 1895 and the company's customers included Continental AG. When the firm merged with US Rubber in 1958, it was then known as Uniroyal Englebert. Uniroyal, the inventor of the rain tyre, has been a European brand within the portfolio of Continental AG in Hanover, Germany since 1979. With targeted annual sales of more than i26.4 billion in 2008, the Continental Corporation is one of the world's leading automotive suppliers. As a supplier of tyres, brake systems, systems and components for the power train and chassis, instrumentation, infotainment solutions, vehicle electronics and technical elastomers, the corporation contributes towards enhanced driving safety and protection of the global climate. Continental is also a competent partner in networked automobile communication. Today, the corporation employs approximately 150,000 people at nearly 200 locations in 36 countries. The tyre divisions are an Official Sponsor of UEFA EURO 2008TM, which will be held in Austria and Switzerland in June 2008.
