Virtual Racing with Uniroyal27.02.2006
More virtual racing pleasure in the Uniroyal Funcup: Three further racetracks added Hanover, February 2006. Comprehensive information about the Uniroyal Funcup, the inexpensive motor sport racing series for all comers, can be found on the website www.uniroyal-funcup.de. The menu level 'Quali Game', where skilful players can win the chance to take part in a Funcup race, is particularly entertaining and promising. Motor sport is normally an expensive business. The Uniroyal Funcup constitutes an exception here, because it is particularly low-cost. But that's not all - with a little skill on the computer, plus a certain amount of luck in the prize draw, players participating in the Quali Game on Uniroyal's Funcup website can once again this year win the chance to take part in a real race, a prize valued at over 2,000 euros. To enhance the fun of the game, rain tyre manufacturer Uniroyal has now increased the choice by adding three further racetracks - in Italy, the UK and Belgium - to the one in Germany. All weekly winners receive a surprise gift and are entered in the prize draw. Every Monday the high score list is zeroed to give new players equal chances. The website is also available to players in Belgium (www.uniroyal-funcup.be), France (www.uniroyal-funcup.fr), Spain (www.uniroyal-funcup.com) and the UK (www.uniroyal-funcup.co.uk). Anyone can take part and qualify for the European team, with one main winner per country (6 in total) being invited to participate in a race. The Uniroyal Fun Cup is a brand trophy with cars that bear a resemblance to the legendary Volkswagen Beetle. Technically, the vehicles have a special tubular frame chassis and use Audi and VW parts. They have all the necessary safety features - from roll-cage, FIA safety fuel tank to five-point seat belts. The racing cars can be either rented or purchased; for further information see www.funmotorsports.de. The races are open to virtually all comers; after a short briefing and health check, anyone with a driver's licence can try their luck. The races are held on the best tracks in Europe, by the way, for example in Spa Francorchamps or on the Nürburgring. The Belgian rubber goods manufacturer Englebert produced tyres from 1895 and the company's customers included Continental AG. When the firm merged with US Rubber in 1958, it was then known as Uniroyal Englebert. Uniroyal, the inventor of the rain tyre, has been a European brand within the portfolio of Continental AG in Hanover, Germany since 1979. The Continental Corporation is a leading supplier of brake systems, chassis components, vehicle electronics, tyres and technical elastomers. In 2005 the corporation realised sales of EUR13.8 billion. At present it has a worldwide workforce of approximately 80,000.
