AutoBild is the Fun Cup’s new media affiliate

Hanover, in May 2005. Autobild, the most successful and marketable automobile magazine in Germany, will be putting together a team for the Fun Cup race in Nürburgring in mid-September. As of now, readers can apply to participate in this event. The Fun Cup is a fairly inexpensive event. In addition, AutoBild will also report on the races in May and August.

On September 17th and 18th, Autobild will compile a readers team that will line up for the race on Nürburgring’s GP-course.  Yet, not only drivers are needed for this matter: Mechanics and pit babes will also have the chance to qualify and be part of this event. A total of six readers (2 drivers, 2 mechanics and 2 pit babes) can actively participate in the racing event.

AutoBild wants to continue to give its readers the chance to be part of further Fun Cup races in the future. Fun Cup races will also be held in Germany in the near future: At the Sachsenring on May 27th and at the EuroSpeedway in Lausitz on the 27th and 28th of August. Even AutoBild’s affiliates will be reporting for the Fun Cup: AutoBild motorsport, Autotuning, AutoBild test&tuning and AutomobilTest are also interested in taking part.

As mentioned, the Fun Cup is a fairly inexpensive event: Thanks to a production engine and a simple car body made up of fiber glass, Fun Cup cars are relatively cheap at about 30,000 Euros. For even less money, one can rent a Fun Cup car (www.funmotorsports.de). The tyres also contribute to the low costs: Tyre changes, from dry tyre to rain tyre or vice versa, during the races are not needed due to the great all-around performance of the sporty production tyre RainSport 1, which performs at a high level both on wet and dry surfaces. Fun Cup racing events are always long-haul races that last at least four hours.

The Belgian rubber manufacturer Englebert has been producing tyres since 1895 for, amongst others Continental AG. In 1958 the company merged with US Rubber and changed its name to Uniroyal Englebert. Since 1979, the European brand Uniroyal, which introduced the world’s first rain tyre, belongs to the Continental AG in Hanover.

The Continental-Group is a leading supplier of brake systems, vehicle components, vehicle electronics, tyres and technical coating fabrics. In 2004 Continental AG achieved a total revenue of 12.6 Billion Euro and now has more than 80.000 employees world-wide.

The business unit “tyres” is an official sponsor for the FIFA World Cup Germany 2006TM. For further information, please visit our websites: www.conti-online.com or www.ContiFanWorld.com.
